Hi, I'm Nicol.
I am a Dutch missionary living in Namibia, a wife, mother, leader, writer and more. Poured Out Living was born from a simple question:
How do we keep pouring into others without running empty ourselves?
My story
For more than a decade, I've lived and worked in the world of missions. Along the way, I have walked alongside vulnerable children, youth, families, and communities—always surrounded by need while navigating marriage, motherhood, ministry, and everyday life.
I have wrestled with burnout, questioned my assumptions, and at times come dangerously close to losing faith. Yet in the midst of it all, God gently reminded me that He cares about me too. Looking after ourselves is not merely a need or a desire; it is woven into God's design. After all, how can we truly love our neighbor as ourselves if we neglect ourselves entirely?
You can only give away what you have. When you are empty and depleted, there is little left to pour into others. But when you are rested, nourished, and rooted in Christ, you are able to serve from abundance rather than exhaustion.
Why Poured Out Living?
Poured Out Living was born from the conviction that there is a healthier way to live. I am inviting you on a journey of becoming filled again—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—so that you can keep pouring out and faithfully be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world that desperately needs His love. Not by giving less, but by learning how to give sustainably.
This space is for the discouraged missionary, the depleted mum, the overwhelmed wife, the tired leader, and everyone who gives deeply and serves faithfully, yet sometimes finds themselves running on empty.
