I feel exhausted & overwhelmed
When you've been strong and giving for so long that you don't remember what it feels like to be filled
If you're here, perhaps life feels heavier than it used to.
You may still love the people God has placed in your life, but everything feels like it takes more effort than it once did. The things that once brought joy now feel like obligations. Rest doesn't seem to restore you anymore, and even simple tasks can feel overwhelming.
Maybe you've been carrying responsibilities for months—or even years—without realizing how empty you've become.
If that's you, I want you to know something:
You are not weak.
You are not failing.
And you are certainly not alone.
Many people who give the most eventually discover they have very little left to give.
But this doesn't have to be the end of your story.
Why Do I Feel This Way?
Exhaustion doesn't happen overnight.
Often it grows quietly through hundreds of small moments:
Always saying yes.
Carrying everyone else's burdens.
Never slowing down.
Feeling responsible for everything.
Neglecting your own needs.
Living through grief, disappointment, or prolonged stress.
Forgetting that even Jesus withdrew to quiet places to rest.
Sometimes we become so used to surviving that we forget we were created to truly live.
Three small steps you can take today
(1) Stop for five minutes
No phone. No to-do list.
Simply sit quietly with God.You don't have to fix anything today.
(2) Ask yourself an honest question
What is making me feel so tired?
Not just physically.Emotionally.Spiritually.Mentally.
Sometimes naming the burden is the beginning of laying it down.
(3) Choose one act of kindness toward yourself
Drink a glass of water.Take a walk.Go to bed earlier.Read one encouraging page.Say "no" to something that isn't yours to carry.
Small choices matter.
A prayer for the weary
Father,
You know how tired I am. You know the burdens I carry, the expectations I place on myself, and the responsibilities that feel too heavy. Help me to remember that I was never meant to carry life alone. Teach me to receive Your rest. Fill me again where I have become empty. Give me wisdom to know when to stop, courage to ask for help, and grace to care for myself as You care for me. May my life not be marked by constant exhaustion, but by Your peace.
Amen.
Before you leave
One step is enough for today.
You don't need to solve everything.
You don't need to become a different person overnight.
Simply take the next small step.
God is far more interested in walking with you than rushing you.
